The Effect of Spacing Errors and Runout on Transverse Load Sharing and the Dynamic Factor of Spur and Helical Gears
01FTM08
This paper addresses the effect of two common manufacturing errors on the performance of spur and helical gears; spacing error and gear runout. In spacing error analysis, load sharing for two worstcase scenarios are treated, one where a tooth is out of position and the second where stepped index errors are applied. The analyzed results are then used as inputs to predict gear dynamic loads, dynamic tooth stresses and dynamic factors for gear rating.
