Gear Classification Manual
AGMA 390.02
Gear Classification Manual

Description: This standard is obsolete and should not be used in the design, manufacture, or inspection of gears, gear products, or flexible couplings.
This publication is a revision of AGMA 390.01, May 1961 and has become an accepted language bridge between the gear designer, user and manufacturer. Users will find that its proper application in the gear procurement process will greatly reduce costs as such. Its use also tends to measurably reduce time spent in the gear selection process. The latter saving is frequently more important than the actual costs involved. We commend this AGMA “Gear Classification Manual,” to all individuals concerned with reducing gear procurement costs attendant with the acquisition of a quality of gear that is no better than need be to adequately do the specific job.
