This International Standard specifies the characteristics of the reference basic rack tooth profile for cylindrical involute gears (external or internal). It gives the geometrical size proportions for a system of involute gears. It does not define a cutter, but a cutter may be defined from the basic rack tooth profile for a conforming profile.
