ANSI/AGMA 9008-B00

ANSI/AGMA 9008-B00

SCOPE
This standard defines the interface dimensions for inch series shrouded and exposed bolt gear coupling flanges.

Applicability
This standard covers the dimensions for gear coupling sleeve and rigid hub flange outside diameter, bolt circle, flange width, hole size, number of holes, hole length and counterbore diameter or groove width for exposed and shrouded bolt gear couplings.

The gear coupling sizes covered in this standard are:

  • For exposed bolt couplings: 1½, 2, 2½, 3, 3½, 4, 4½, 5, 6, 7, 8 and 9.
  • For shrouded bolt couplings: 1½, 2, 2½, 3, 3½, 4, 4½ and 5.

FOREWORD
[The foreword, footnotes and annexes, if any, in this document are provided for informational purposes only and are not to be construed as a part of ANSI/AGMA Standard 9008-B00, Flexible Couplings - Gear Type - Flange Dimensions, Inch Series.]

Equipment manufacturers and industrial users of gear couplings have found it desirable to have gear coupling sleeves and rigid hubs manufactured to specific flange dimensions. Industry standardization of gear coupling flange dimensions enables machinery manufacturers to design shafts and flanges, flywheels, adapters, etc., to be compatible with all standard gear couplings.

This standard defines the North American industry practice, which is probably the world’s largest standardized production volume, in a form that can be followed throughout the world.

The first draft of AGMA 516.01 was prepared by the Flexible Coupling Technical Committee in July 1976. It was approved by the Flexible Coupling Product Group as of December 17, 1976. It was balloted upon by the AGMA membership as of March 31, 1978.

The standard ANSI/AGMA 9008-B00 is a revision and redesignation of AGMA 516.01. Revisions consisted of a title change to better describe the standard as an inch series standard, and the dimensions in the tables are provided with the inch dimensions as primary with metric conversions where appropriate.

ANSI/AGMA 9008-B00 was approved as a standard by the AGMA membership on March 4, 1999, and approved as an American National Standard on September 25, 2000.
